 MORE ABOUT PAUL

Born in Borger, Texas, Hutchinson County.


Raised in an oil field camp in Hutchinson County, Alumni of Spring Creek Elementary School, a small county school, grades 1-8. Spent my summers sitting on a tractor or working cattle. Worked as a roustabout in the oilfield. After Highschool I worked at IPB (Iowa Beef Packers) (now Tyson Foods).


Graduated in 1981 from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Petroleum Land Management. Worked as a Landman for the world's largest company, Exxon. After graduating from law school, I worked at an Oil and Gas law firm in Houston before entering private practice. Eventually, I moved back to Amarillo and worked for Potter County as the Chief Felony Prosecutor, where I successfully prosecuted capital murderers, rapists, robbers, and drug dealers. Acted as the Armstrong County Attorney.


After leaving the DA's office, I entered private practice emphasizing criminal law, family law, and civil law. In December of 1999 1 was recognized as an expert in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and have been recertified every 5 years since, I have first chaired literally hundreds of jury trials in municipal, county and district court as well as Federal court with a very high success rate, in addition to the numerous civil and criminal appeals I have authored and argued. I have been appointed special prosecutor in numerous cases. I was appointed by the State Bar of Texas to the state grievance committee for the term 2007 to 2010. Elected to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer Association. I was a partner in the firm of Herrmann and Weaver for over 20 years and am currently a partner in the firm of Herrmann and Archer.


I was licensed by the State of Texas in 1987, in the Southern District Federal Court in 1989, in the Northern District of Federal Court in 2003, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Fifth Circuit in 2017.


I am the co-creator and director of the Paul and Mike's Excellent Mile, an annual charity event raising thousands of dollars for local charities, 31 years and running.


Married to Allison for 36 years, four children: Christian, Blake, Rebecca, and Hannah.
